Who can pull my car out of a ditch near Atlanta?

Julius Towing LLC provides vehicle recovery and winching across East Point, Atlanta, College Park, Hapeville and metro Atlanta, 24 hours a day — including vehicles in ditches and embankments, stuck in mud or grass, high-centred on kerbs or medians, and vehicles resting on their side. Recovery is quoted on the specific situation, since access, angle and ground conditions determine the work. Contact dispatch and describe how the vehicle is sitting.

Recovery is the part of this trade where experience is worth the most and improvisation costs the most. A winch line under load stores an alarming amount of energy. Pulling from the wrong point bends things that were not bent before. And a vehicle that is merely stuck can very easily become a vehicle that is damaged, if someone rushes it.

What we are usually called for

  • Off the shoulder. Rain, an avoiding manoeuvre, or the soft ground beside a metro road after a wet week.
  • Ditches and embankments. Very common on the unlit surface roads around the south metro after dark.
  • High-centred. A kerb, a median or a parking block, with the wheels no longer carrying the weight.
  • Mud and grass. Overflow parking at an event is the classic version.
  • Ice and snow. Rare, and then all at once — Atlanta does not do this often, and when it does, everything happens at the same time.
  • On its side or roof. A different job again, requiring a plan before anything is pulled.

While you wait

Do not keep trying. Spinning wheels dig the vehicle deeper and can overheat a transmission, turning a recovery into a repair. If the vehicle is near live traffic, get out on the side away from the road and stand well clear.

Questions people actually ask

How is recovery priced?

On the situation rather than a flat rate, because the situations are genuinely different. Distance to the vehicle, the angle, the ground, whether one truck or two are needed. Describe how it is sitting and you will get a real number.

Could you damage the car pulling it out?

The risk is real, which is why the pull points and the angle matter so much. Done properly, a recovery does not add damage. Done in a hurry with a strap on a suspension arm, it does.

It is stuck but not damaged. Do I still need a tow afterwards?

Often not. Once it is back on solid ground, plenty of vehicles drive away. If something was damaged getting there, that is when the truck matters — and the mobile mechanic can check before you drive off.
