Who tows a car after an accident in Atlanta?

A post-collision vehicle is not a normal tow. Wheels may not turn, steering may not respond, fluid may be on the road, and there may be damage that makes the obvious lifting point the wrong one. It is flatbed work far more often than not.
You choose who tows it
This is worth knowing and a lot of people do not: at a crash scene you are generally entitled to choose your own towing company, and to say where your vehicle goes. If a truck arrives that you did not call, you are allowed to ask who called it and what it will cost. Get the destination in writing where you can — storage fees at a yard you did not choose are a genuinely unpleasant surprise a week later.
At the scene, in order
- Injuries? Call 911 immediately. Do not move an injured person unless they are in immediate danger.
- Get safe. Hazards on. If the vehicles drive and the crash is minor, moving them clear of live lanes is generally safer than leaving them in traffic.
- Call the police. In Georgia, a crash involving injury, death or apparent property damage must be reported. A report also protects you later.
- Photograph everything before anything moves — position, damage, plates, the road, the signals.
- Exchange information. Names, licences, insurance, plates, contact details.
- Then call for the tow.
Georgia's Move Over law requires drivers to move over or slow down for stopped emergency and recovery vehicles with flashing lights. It is the law that protects the person standing next to your car.

Will insurance cover the tow?
Frequently, depending on your policy and who was at fault. Keep every document and get the towing invoice with the destination on it. We will give you the paperwork you need to make that claim rather than a scribbled total.
Can you tow it straight to a body shop?
Yes, and to the shop you choose. If you have not chosen yet, we can take it somewhere secure while you decide — but you should decide quickly, because storage is charged by the day everywhere.
